What to Expect at Your First Visit

Your first appointment is about getting to know you and your mouth, not rushing into treatment. Here is how it usually goes:

  1. Paperwork and history. Arrive a few minutes early with your photo ID, insurance card and a list of medications. We review your medical and dental history and anything that is bothering you.
  2. X-rays if needed. Digital X-rays are taken only when your history or the exam calls for them.
  3. A thorough exam. Dr. Lee checks your teeth, gums and bite and screens for oral cancer.
  4. Cleaning. If your gums are healthy, your cleaning is usually done the same visit. If there are signs of gum disease, we schedule the right type of cleaning so it is done properly.
  5. Findings and a plan. You get a plain-language explanation of what we found, your options, and a written estimate after we verify your insurance.

We accept most major insurance plans. Before treatment we verify your benefits, file claims for you and explain what your plan covers, so there are no surprise bills. Call us during office hours and we will fit urgent cases in the same day whenever possible. For severe swelling, uncontrolled bleeding or facial trauma after hours, go to the nearest emergency room.
